Celtic Koru Pieces
Watercolour or Ink and gold on cotton rag paper
Various sizes
The Koru, Maori for loop, is a spiral shape based on the shape of the unfurling silver fern frond. It symbolises new life, growth, strength and peace.
The spiral is a Celtic symbol for growth, strength, evolution and continuity.
These pieces integrate these symbols – often using the ever-changing blues of the nearby Arahura and Hokitika rivers as a palette.
